Questions Answered
Everything You
Need to Know.
What is Shockwave Therapy?
Shockwave Therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses high-energy acoustic waves to stimulate healing, improve circulation, and reduce pain in injured muscles, tendons, and joints.
What happens during a shockwave therapy session?
Your first visit starts with a consultation so we understand your pain, injury or condition and can decide whether shockwave therapy is right for you. During treatment, gel is applied to the painful area so the sound waves travel properly, then a handheld device delivers them to the tissue. The treatment itself takes 10 to 15 minutes, depending on the area.
Does Shockwave Therapy hurt?
There will be some discomfort involved in the procedure, but normally it is manageable. We can also reduce the intensity to make you more comfortable.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of sessions depends on the condition, but the majority of people notice an improvement after 3–6 sessions.
Is there any downtime after treatment?
Recovery time is relatively short. You can have a day or two of soreness, but there is no downtime per se, and most people can return to normal activities immediately.
Is Shockwave Therapy safe?
Yes. It is a non-invasive treatment that has been used successfully for decades to treat musculoskeletal disorders, with minimal if any side effects.
Can Shockwave Therapy be combined with chiropractic care?
Yes. Shockwave therapy is often combined with chiropractic treatment, physical therapy or massage for improved recovery — which is how it is usually used here, as one part of a plan rather than a treatment on its own.
